A few weeks in review

Over the past couple of weeks I really feel that my eating has been slipping. One of the big things is that I haven’t been prepared at all for good eating. Since I’m going on vacation tomorrow I don’t really see things improving all that much.

My performance at Crossfit has gone up by a bit. I rarely feel out of energy or feel like puking. I noticed that I’ve slimmed down a bit, but lately I feel really lathargic, which is an indicator that my diet hasn’t been very good.

Another thing that needs to be improved is my consistancy. I eat breakfast way too late, don’t get enough sleep, and dinners are starting become whatever is convenient. Defintely not going in the right direction. These are the improvements that need to be made:

  1. Get up earlier. I’ve been battling a long strain of insomnia… falling asleep at 4:30am and waking up a few hours later. If I can only fall asleep around 11:00 and be up around 7:30am that would be ideal. When I get back from Asia this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
  2. Having the good foods available. I’m ok at preparing foods in batches for the week, however the problem is that my measuring hasn’t been good. I need to create a recipe book of stuff that is good to eat.
  3. Improve the use of ingredients. Use coconut oil to cook instead of olive oil.
  4. Eat more good fats: avocado. I think I’ll make a decent sized batch of guacamole to eat with eggs and salsa in the morning.
  5. More green vegetables.
  6. More consistency.
  7. Creating a weekly eating plan.
  8. Stick to the eating plan.

Breakfast:

Salad with fried turkey, one egg. Got up pretty late so this was pretty much lunch.

Snack: protein shake

Dinner w/ friends.

This was a potluck dinner. Lots of wine, lots of good food. Lots of carbs but that’s ok. The cake… homemade and excellent!

Crossfit party: write off. Drinking drink. drink.

Looking at today’s eating it is evident that poor planning = poor eating. Not only did I likely snack on a bunch of random things throughout the day but it wasn’t even all that healthy. The slide down is slippery and fast!

Breakfast: omelet (cheese, ham, roast beef) and a salad

Protein shake w/ coconut milk:

Lunch: a bit of curry… and something else?

Protein shake:

Dinner: Left over curry (butter chicken, home made) and ground beef.

Snack: bag of nuts.

Breakfast: Salad, Eggs, roast beef and an orange. 

Salad: chicken, cherry tomatoes, avocado (mmmm)

After Crossfit: Protein shake w/ Darth Erkel. Lots of rice milk in there (carbs), and a banana.. but so tasty! 

Dinner: Yellow chicken curry with rice. More carbs… ohh I’m sliding. 

Coffee: Tall, decafe latte with no foam.

Breakfast: two egg and roast beef wraps. I ate two. I was hungry. Three eggs, salsa, roast beef, 2 wraps.

Lunch: Chicken Salad. Banana

Snack: Bag of nuts.

Crossfit!

Dinner: another egg + roast beef wrap. a salmon steak.

Coffee: Latte (no caffine), oat bar.

Snack: Protein powder with coconut milk and milk.

After a day of bad eating, back on the schedule.

Breakfast. Eggs, salsa and sliced roast beef. It doesn’t look appetizing at all but consider it utility eating. It actually tasted pretty good. Had an orange to go with it.

Snack at work: Nuts and fruit.

Lunch: Spring salad with cherry tomatoes, avocado and beef patty. A little bit of balsamic vinaigrette dressing on top. Delicious!

Crossfit:

  • Deadlift max
  • 1 mile run

Dinner: Spring salad with cherry tomatoes, avocado, pickle (surprisingly YUM! w/ Salad) and balsamic vinegar. I had a very large (2x) helping of salmon. This is the start of fish week. I thought I needed the extra protein. I didn’t.

Tomorrow same thing, one piece of salmon is enough.

Snack: Protein shake with coconut milk.

Fruit (late night). I had a massive carb craving. It is a funny feeling, like you are hungry but not. So I had a few grapes and an orange. Carb craving gone.

Haven’t really been as diligent as I should have been keeping the food log. Well my diet has been pretty standard for the past couple of days. On Sunday I decided that I needed a free day. I woke up late, really craving a hamburger.

That is strange considering last week was beef week and I’ve consumed a very large portion of a cow. Anyways, Sunday food log.

Woke up quick at about noon…

Went to the track to get in a light Sunday Crossfit work out:

  • Some light Parkour runs
  • 10 rounds of 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, and 10 squats
  • 24 burpees.

Now begin the day of non-optimal yet very enjoyable eating:

I actually woke up around noon, at the track at 2:00, no breakfast, no food in my belly. After the workout I was starving! Off to Whitespot.

Whitespot bigger burger with sweet potato fries. Mmmm…drool.

Coffee and cookie. I haven’t had a cookie in weeks. It tasted so sweet. I usually eat the oat bars at Starbucks which aren’t any better. In fact I think I gotta avoid Starbucks for a little while. Most of my bad sugar intake is from there.

Snack at the end of the day:

I found that the burger really filled me up. In fact, that was the only meal I ate all Sunday.

Breakfast: 2 eggs, beef, salsa and cheese. 

Lunch: Salad + beef patty. Bag of nuts.

Dinner: 1/2 chicken and chili. 

Late night snack: Protein shake. 1/2 cup of coconut milk and 1 cup of milk. I need to double my fat intake. More more more!
